Monk’s Cafe is considered a beer Mecca in America. But don’t you dare forget about their burger.
Monk’s Cafe in Center City Philadelphia has been listed in various food publications as one of the premier places in the country to grab a beer. They have an impressive collection of beers from all over the world, each with different flavors and alcohol potency. When you arrive, you are given what they call their “Beer Bible”. It’s overwhelming a first, but the more you look through it, the more you realize you are being given an education into the world of beer. 
Walking into Monk’s reminds me of many establishments in New York City. The lighting is dark and moody. It is often crowded and whether you sit at a table or at the bar you are almost shoulder to shoulder with the people next you.
Of course, you will be offered beer, but they also offer an amazing food menu that ranges from fries to mussels to frog legs. The star of the show is the Monk’s Burger. They give you their choice of toppings to choose from. My personal favorite is a medium-well Monk’s burger with caramelized leeks and cheddar cheese. It comes with shoestring fries and a side of aioli that is out of this world. Seriously.
