ABOUT ME

Hello!

My name is Kamilah and welcome to my blog, Finding Fraiche (pronounced free-sh).

I am a lover of food and new experiences. My father is a retired chef whose specialty was French cuisine. He studied at the famous Cordon Bleu school in Paris, France. When he came back, one of the first things he did was start a catering business. Luckily, I was old enough to help out and became one of his first employees. I remember doing everything from peeling frozen shrimp until my hands turned blue, to scraping fragrant vanilla beans into a bowl to making ice cream from scratch. While many of my school-aged friends were eating pizza every Saturday, I was eating beef stews splashed with white wine, or pasta with a white wine sauce or white wine roasted vegetables, (he used white wine A LOT).

Now that I am an adult, the spirit of discovery still lives with me. You don’t need a big bank account to explore what the city has to offer. Why go to a chain restaurant when there are a ton of small establishments offering more exciting and specialized menus? My hope is that with every post, you become more inspired to try new things.

Happy Eating!
